Recycling—What Can Be Recycled?


 


Glass

 

Glass Items Accepted

  • Juice, soda, water bottles
  • Beer and wine bottles
  • Food jars

Preparation

- Remove lids
- Rinse to remove residue
- Do not break glass
- Set container and lid in bin

Glass Items Not Accepted

- Light bulbs
- Window glass
- Drinking glasses
- Mirrors
- Drinking glasses
- Mirrors


 


Metal Cans

 

Metal Cans Items Accepted

  • Tin food cans
  • Aluminum beverage cans

Preparation

- Empty and rinse
- Set in bin

Metal Cans Not Accepted

- Cans used for chemicals or paints
- Aerosol spray cans


 


Paper

 

Paper Items Accepted

  • Newspapers, any inserts, tabloids, or small flyers that originally came with the paper
  • Catalogs
  • Phone Books
  • Magazines
  • Cardboard boxes in sizes of no more than 2 ft. square
  • Stationary and copy paper
  • Cereal boxes

Preparation

- Bundle in paper grocery bag
- Set on or beside bin

Paper Items Not Accepted

- Freezer boxes
- Wax impregnated cardboard


 


Plastic

 

Plastic Cans Items Accepted

  • All plastic with the recycle symbol on them, including #1 through #7

Preparation

- Rinse container, crush
- Discard cap and ring
- Set in bin

Plastic Items Not Accepted

- Plastic toys
- Rubber products
- Photographic film


Do NOT put the following materials into the recycling bin:

  • Liquids
  • Food waste
  • fabrics
  • Wood
  • Metal (except for cans)
  • Trash
