G. Mello Disposal Corp. is pleased help make the Town of Merrimac a cleaner and healthier environment.

In observance of Memorial Day, there will be no trash or recycling pick up on Monday, May 29. All pickups will be delayed one day during the week with Friday’s routes being picked up on Saturday. Thank you to those who served.

Trash is collected on Wednesdays for all Pay as You Throw customers and residents eligible for municipal trash collection. Multi-unit apartment dwellings over six units and trailer park units are not eligible for town sponsored trash pickup.

Bag Program
Cost is $1.50 for each 15-gallon bag, weighing up to 15 lbs. and $3.00 for each 35-gallon bag, weighing up to 40 lbs. Recycling collection does not require a bag. The more you recycle, the more you save! Only the town issued blue colored bags will be picked up.

All trash bags must be tied and containers covered to prevent litter. Non-conforming trash bags (e.g., non-conforming color bag, over weight limits, yard waste, demolition or hazardous materials) will be left at curbside and will be the responsibility of residents. Illegal disposal or burning of trash will result in a fine as per Merrimac’s bylaw.

Trash should be placed at the curb by 7:00 AM on the morning of collection, and not before 6:00 PM on the evening prior to collection.

In the event of inclement weather, collection may be delayed a day. Tune into Channel 18 for delay information.
