The Georgetown Transfer Station will be closed on April 16 in observance of Easter Sunday.
Patriots Day is not a holiday for G. Mello Disposal, so trash and recycling pick up for the week of April 17 will be on a regular schedule.
Trash is collected on Wednesdays for all Pay as You Throw customers and residents eligible for municipal trash collection. Multi-unit apartment dwellings over six units and trailer park units are not eligible for town sponsored trash pickup.
Cost is $1.50 for each 15-gallon bag, weighing up to 15 lbs. and $3.00 for each 35-gallon bag, weighing up to 40 lbs. Recycling collection does not require a bag. The more you recycle, the more you save! Only the town issued blue colored bags will be picked up.
All trash bags must be tied and containers covered to prevent litter. Non-conforming trash bags (e.g., non-conforming color bag, over weight limits, yard waste, demolition or hazardous materials) will be left at curbside and will be the responsibility of residents. Illegal disposal or burning of trash will result in a fine as per Merrimac’s bylaw.
Trash should be placed at the curb by 7:00 AM on the morning of collection, and not before 6:00 PM on the evening prior to collection.
In the event of inclement weather, collection may be delayed a day. Tune into Channel 18 for delay information.
